ZS Associates Interview Experience 2026

The following documents the interview experience based on candidate reports from ZS Associates campus and off-campus drives for BTSA and DAA roles in 2023-2025. The process is intense and can last 10-12 hours on campus, testing both technical skills and endurance.

Round 1: Online Assessment (Mettle Platform)

The first round in the hiring process is the elimination round, conducted on the Mettle platform. Candidates have to answer 59 questions in 52 minutes across 6 sections, with each section having its own timer. The Logical/Attention to Detail section is considered the most intense, with 25 questions to be completed in just 5 minutes. Since candidates cannot switch between sections, time management becomes the biggest challenge in this round.

Difficulty Level

The questions are individually moderate, but the extreme time pressure makes the test very challenging. The Logical section requires answering one question every 12 seconds. Maximum eliminations happen in this round.

Round 2: Communication / Verbal Test

A separate assessment of English communication skills. May include video-based responses where candidates answer questions with camera and mic on. This round evaluates spoken English, articulation, and clarity.

Round 3: Role-Specific Assessment

BTSA candidates: SQL queries (2 questions with schema and database given, write complete queries) + Coding problems (string manipulation, array operations with complexity analysis). DAA candidates: Case Study analysis with data-driven business problem-solving. Both are elimination rounds. Typically 40 shortlisted per role for interviews.

Round 4: Technical Interview (30-45 minutes to 1+ hour)

The most intensive round.

For BTSA Candidates

SQL queries dominate (JOINs, RANK(), HAVING, ROW_NUMBER(), deleting duplicates). Then coding problems (palindrome check with 3-4 different approaches, non-anagram identification from array with optimal complexity and dry run). OOP output prediction (inheritance, polymorphism).

For DAA Candidates

Resume projects, case study discussion, analytical reasoning, statistics.

Interview Approach

Interviewers probe every point on the resume deeply. Don't fake anything - they cross-question extensively. Some interviewers present pharmaceutical project scenarios and ask for SDLC-based solution approaches. Puzzles are commonly asked (water bucket puzzle, chessboard squares, Monty Hall problem).

Round 5: EBI (Experience-Based Interview) / Behavioral

Even though labeled 'behavioral', candidates report being grilled again on projects and SQL. Guesstimates are a staple: estimate number of bikes in Bangalore, traffic signals in Pune, people in Delhi Metro at 9 AM, planes departing from Trivandrum Airport, volume of the chair you're sitting in. Situational questions: project has a technical error and tomorrow is launch day - what do you do? Standard GFG-style puzzles also asked.

Round 6: HR Interview

Standard behavioral questions: self-introduction, biggest achievement, strengths/weaknesses, why ZS, career goals. May include light technical or ML questions based on resume. Results are sometimes given within 5-10 minutes of the interview. The entire campus process can run 9 AM to 8:30 PM.

Overall Interview Experience Summary

ZS Associates recruitment consists of Phase 1 (Online Assessment + Communication + Role-specific test) and Phase 2 (Technical Interview + EBI/Behavioral + HR). The process is long and intense, often lasting 10-12 hours on campus. SQL is the most tested skill for BTSA. Puzzles and guesstimates appear in multiple rounds. Resume is checked thoroughly - every point is cross-questioned. The company typically selects 6-25 candidates per role per campus. Rejection lists are released at intervals throughout the day.
